Our Bagpipe Chanter practise is a woodwind instrument with two reeds. Our beginner’s practise chanter is a little longer (two parts) and constructed of wood or synthetic material, with a small-diameter hole bored lengthwise through the centre, into which two pieces are linked and a reed is inserted. Air is directed from the mouthpiece to the centre of the practise chanter, where it flows through the reed and generates vibration, resulting in sound. There are finger holes on the lower end of the chanter, which can be opened and closed to adjust the pitch of the sound. It is intended to practise fingers for various bagpipe melody notes, as the name implies.
